Cardiovascular Surgery

In the middle of our chest, just below the sternum, is the heart. The heart is an organ composed mainly of muscle that moves blood into our circulatory system and supplies the body with the necessary nutrients and oxygen. To reach the heart, the breast bones are cut during surgery. The surgeon stops the heart and connects it to a device to maintain cardiac and pulmonary functions and successfully perform surgery on a bloodless and immobile heart.

This process is called cardiopulmonary bypass. In some cases, it is beneficial to do heart surgery without stopping it.

In cardiovascular surgery,

• Ventilchirugie
• Coronary bypass surgery
• Konorarbypass at the working heart
• aortic aneurysm
• Carotid artery surgery performed.

Heart surgery in Turkey began in 1960. The operations in Turkey are at the same level as in the developed countries known for heart surgery. The cardiovascular system is closely related to the functions of the lung, kidney, metabolic and brain systems. In this regard, cardiac surgery requires multidisciplinary teamwork in preoperative, surgical and postoperative periods. Turkey has become an important health point in terms of cardiovascular surgery.
